Solution S (see Tests) gives the reactions of sulfates (2.3.1).<\/p>\n<p>B. Solution S gives the reaction of zinc (2.3.1).<\/p>\n<p>C. It complies with the limits of the assay.<\/p>\n<h2>TESTS<\/h2>\n<h3>Solution S<\/h3>\n<p>Dissolve 2.5 g in carbon dioxide-free water R and dilute to 50 mL with the same solvent.<\/p>\n<h3>Appearance of solution<\/h3>\n<p>Solution S is clear (2.2.1) and colourless (2.2.2, Method II).<\/p>\n<h3>pH (2.2.3)<\/h3>\n<p>4.0 to 5.6 for solution S.<\/p>\n<h3>Chlorides (2.4.4)<\/h3>\n<p>Maximum 300 ppm.<\/p>\n<p>Dilute 3.3 mL of solution S to 15 mL with water R.<\/p>\n<h3>Iron (2.4.9)<\/h3>\n<p>Maximum 100 ppm.<\/p>\n<p>Dilute 2 mL of solution S to 10 mL with water R. Use 0.5 mL of thioglycollic acid R in this test.<\/p>\n<h2>ASSAY<\/h2>\n<p>Dissolve 0.160 g in 5 mL of dilute acetic acid R. Carry out the complexometric titration of zinc (2.5.11). 1 mL of 0.1 M sodium edetate is equivalent to 17.95 mg of ZnSO<sub>4<\/sub>,H<sub>2<\/sub>O.<\/p>\n<h2>STORAGE<\/h2>\n<p>In a non-metallic container.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edition: BP 2025 (Ph.
