The number of moles of ethylene oxide reacted per mole of glycerol stearate is 20 (nominal value).<\/p>\n<h2>CHARACTERS<\/h2>\n<h3>Appearance<\/h3>\n<p>Pale yellow, oily liquid or gel.<\/p>\n<h3>Solubility<\/h3>\n<p>Soluble in water at 40 \u00b0C and above and in ethanol (96 per cent), practically insoluble in light liquid paraffin and in fatty oils.<\/p>\n<h4>Relative density<\/h4>\n<p>About 1.07.<\/p>\n<h2>IDENTIFICATION<\/h2>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: upper-alpha;\">\n<li>Hydroxyl value (see Tests).<\/li>\n<li>Saponification value (see Tests).<\/li>\n<li>Composition of fatty acids (see Tests).<\/li>\n<li>Place 1 g in a test tube and add 0.1 mL of sulfuric acid R.
